冷核聚变(英语:Cold fusion)是指理论上在接近常温(1000K以下)、常压和相对简单的设备条件下发生核聚变反应。核聚变反应中,多个轻原子核被强行聚合形成一个重原子核,并伴随能量释放。
冷核聚变是现在所用更正式名称——“低能量核反应”(Low Energy Nuclear Reactions, LENR)——的通俗名称,隶属于凝态物质核科学(condensed matter nuclear science, CMNS)的范畴。
历史
冷核聚变为大众所周知起因于1989年3月“弗莱许曼-庞斯实验”的争议性——由科学家马丁·弗莱许曼(Martin Fleischmann)与史坦利·庞斯(Stanley Pons)所进行。当时有许多科学家努力重复该实验,却发现无法再现一样的结果[1]。人们对冷聚变最大的责难集中在其实验的低重复性和核反应产物不匹配两点上。[2]
2008年,日本大阪大学物理学教授荒田吉明宣称完成第一次成功冷聚变示范。在实验中,荒田吉明使氘进入一个包含钯与锆氧化物之混合物中,在这种稠密的状态下,来自于不同原子的氘原子核聚变产生氦原子核。
2011年,意大利波隆纳大学(University of Bologna)物理系的科学家安卓·罗西(Andrea Rossi)与Sergio Focardi宣布已成功利用能源催化剂(Energy Catalyzer )引发冷核聚变反应,但尚未普遍得到其他科学家证实。
